This renovation transforms a Crown Heights limestone townhouse, expanding an owner's duplex from a 1-bed 1.5-bath layout into a 3-bed 2.5-bath home tailored for a young family. The design preserves much of the original detail, with thoughtful care given to repurposing original elements removed during demolition. These restored details were carefully reinstalled, ensuring that every intervention feels seamless and intentional.

The reconfiguration maximized space, allowing for proper closets in bedrooms and full, well-appointed bathrooms. The primary bedroom retains its original fireplace and wainscoting, saved and reinstalled. The contemporary kitchen and bathrooms create a clean contrast to the preserved original details throughout. On the upper level, refinished elements bring out the building’s original beauty, including newly exposed natural wood on the fireplace, celebrating the home’s history.
