Northlands
Red Deer, Alberta
The Northlands commercial complex was revitalized with a new facade designed to suit varying sizes and arrangements of retail tenants. Originally clad in crumbling brick, the facade was reworked with durable corrugated metal and lighting, creating a balanced rhythm that breaks down the building’s scale for a more welcoming, human-centered retail environment. Using the window height as a datum, the segmented facade adapts seamlessly to shifts in tenant configurations, accommodating between one and four occupants. The result is a minimalist, economically efficient design that balances functionality with restrained style, suited to both the climate and evolving retail demands.
